(kind of) R.I.P

When the five of us (James, David, Will, Ben & Laith) started our little bashment bash all the way back in 2004, we never could have predicted what would have happened. After becoming bored with monotonous clubs, parties and shows we took things into our hands, found the weirdest, rankest venue in good old Manchester, and put our own party on. Few came.

Four weeks into our little project and as we were beginning to consider cutting our losses, people started turning up. Every week. On a Wednesday. We played everything from Kraftwerk to Outkast, from Green Velvet to The Sonics, and turned the dark, dank surroundings of the legendary Bierkeller (RIP) into a sweaty ravebox. Somehow, we managed to persuade a bunch of bands, DJs and producers we liked to come and play (Justice playing to 200 people, The Juan Maclean's amazing live show, The Presets literally bringing the roof down come to mind) and hosted many memorable nights that we'll cherish forever. People started to hear about our daring DJ dexterity (read : attempting stupid mixes) and we got asked to play at wonderful venues like Fabric in London, Optimo in Glasgow, in France, Sweden, Tokyo and elsewhere. We met many lovely people through the course of running the party and made friends we'll keep forever.

It is however, time for us to say bye-bye (in a way). It's always best to go out on a high, and our sold out NYE party of 2007/8 marked the end of regular TRAMP! parties. We're all moving on to new projects and ideas, and will no longer run the club on a regular weekly or monthly basis. However; that's not to say the spirit of TRAMP! is totally dead -- keep your eyes out for one-offs, irregular shindigs and parties, which we'll continue to do when opportunity arises.

Thank you - to all of our friends who've helped out along the way, to all of the people who've ever visited the club, all of the journos who decided to write stuff about us, all of the agents who took a gamble on us, to all the soundguys that put up with the Bierkeller, and all the people who've ever played.

We're still playing out as DJs however, and open to any ideas - to book us for your party, email james [at] thisisbadapple.com
